Taking your show video:

Virtual livestock showing is relatively new to everybody, so don't hesitate to jump in front of the camera and show like you would in the ring.  Try following some of the points below and watch our example video to see how easy capturing and submitting your show can be:

1.  Plan to take your 60-90 second video from a well lit area free of distractions
2.  Plan your time to highlight the profile (side), front, rear positions
3.  Provide equal time to exhibit your lamb on the move and shown posed on flat ground
​4.  Have fun and remember you have multiple chances to make the perfect show in this ring

Meet the Judge:

Aaron Jennings  is from Fredonia, TX. There his wife, Jessica and son Bronte assist in raising a flock of Southdown and Dorset ewes. He grew up in the sheep industry exhibiting market lambs and breeding sheep at both state and national levels. In 2009 he was a member of the Reserve National Champion Livestock Judging Team while at Texas A&M. He then became the wool judging coach at Texas Tech University where he coached 4 national or co-national championship teams while obtaining a masters degree and pursuing his PhD. He feels the opportunities afforded to youth through livestock showing provide invaluable experiences to develop them for future success

​Market Divisions
1.  Black Face
2.  White Face
3.  Natural
4.  White Face Influence
5.  AOB
6.  Commercial Ewe (see below)
  • 6A.  Commercial Ewe Lamb
  • 6B.  Commercial Yearling Ewe

Market divisions are open to wethers or ewe lambs; ewe lambs can compete in respective market division and commercial ewe with separate entries (same video may be submitted separately).

Classes:
Classes determined by weight after close of entries.
​Placings:
The top two placing lambs in each class compete for division top two placing in division will compete for Overall Grand and Reserve Champion.  The judge's selection is final.
Prizes:
Class:
  Grand & Reserve Champions will be awarded banners in each class.
Division:  Grand & Reserve Champions will be awarded banners in each division.
Overall:  Grand and Reserve Overall Champions will be awarded large banners for each contest.

Other prizes will be offered on a per contest basis at the discretion of the judges and sponsors

​Rules & Guidelines

​Virtual Lamb Slam shows and contests are open to ALL of the nation's sheep showing youth to enter and enjoy.  In honor of our mission to promote youth sheep showing experiences we ask that you follow the rules and guidelines for these virtual shows and competitions:

  • Open to all states and exhibitors up to 21 years of age. If you can upload a video, you can show
  • Virtual showing judged on a 60-90 second video from a well lit area; Videos must highlight the profile (side), front, rear, on the move and on flat ground. Please see demonstration video for example.
  • Market divisions are open to wethers or ewe lambs; ewe lambs can compete in respective market division and commercial ewe with separate entries (same video may be submitted separately).
  • No awards (ribbons, trophies, banners, etc.) can be included in the video. No names or ranch names are to be displayed in the videos.
  • Sheep should be of shorn (rough or slick) fit, cleaned and in the same, or similar presentation as you would for a live show.
  • There is a $25 entry fee ($20 for early birds before 5/18, 10 p.m. EST) that sponsors awards for our champions.  A portion of the proceeds from events will be donated to a national agricultural, or livestock based charity chosen by our participants and followers
  • Video must be submitted with our easy to use web forms (links in the show ring); no emailed entries will be opened, or accepted; multiple entries allowed with separate online entry forms and entry fees
  • No limits on the number of entries per participant
  • Videos can be disqualified at the judges' discretion for poor quality or inappropriate content.
  • We reserve the right to cancel classes and/or move divisions based on entries and classification. ​

1. TAKE YOUR SHOW VIDEO
  • Please contact us if you have any difficulties and please refer to the tips listed above.  Most video file formats are accepted.  Videos are limited to 1-minute in length.  Video editing, special effects, and music all increase the file size of your video if not done properly and may affect your ability to upload your show video.

2. CLICK THE LINK TO ENTRY FORM BELOW
  • Our easy online entry form will give you the option to choose from the divisions for the show listed above.  You will provide your registration information, the $25 fee ($20 for early birds) and upload your video for submission all in one easy step.

3. RECEIVE CONFIRMATION EMAIL & RECEIPT
After the online form and payment is received and your is video uploaded, you'll receive a confirmation email with more information and your payment receipt.
